Deep Purple star Ian Gillan was voted fourth, while the Who's Roger Daltry, David Coverdale from Whitesnake and Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose were fifth, sixth and seventh.
Completing the top ten were Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger and AC/DC's Bon Scott, who finished eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.
