Tatas should have settled the issue on their own. They can talk directly to the farmers. I don't know why they are depending entirely on the state government. The state can at best assist corporate houses during negotiation. The combined daily earning of Tata Group companies is over Rs 100 crore. They can sacrifice one day's earning for the farmers.
This is also the Assocham view on the subject. We feel that this is a minor problem.
We're trying to meet Tata within a week. I've conveyed this to the CM. Some of the comments on a possible adverse impact are being made by those who don't even have a presence in the state. These will not deter serious investors like Videocon or JSW.
Landowners in Purulia have welcomed our people. In fact, they have offered us sweets at their homes. We have already bought the entire 200 acres required for our solar power project in Purulia directly from the farmers.
