I wouldn't like to comment on the price but we are certainly under pressure from increased material costs that are faced by the industry. -

General Motors has a production facility at Halol in Gujarat where it has invested Rs 1,400 crore. The facility can make 85,000 cars in a year.

The company plans to do ``everything possible'' to start selling the car as planned, Tata told reporters in New Delhi today. Tata expects demand for small cars to rise. The Nano is aimed at first-time car buyers in India, where more than 45 million people use motorcycles.

The corporate world in India had also voiced its protests over the Nano delay including Mukesh Ambani, Venu Srinivasan and several others. This situation still remains hostile and as per Tata officials, requesting anonymity, any normalcy in the matter would be a highly optimistic idea.

Under the banner of Forum of Engineering Teachers and Students (FETS), students and professors from 80 private engineering colleges held a signature campaign in favour of the Tata Nano project in Singur.
