Nano not yet Resolved

The protestors' claim was made after the much anticipated first inspection of the factory site. The issue is important because Tata Motors told the West Bengal government that a contiguous vendor park is critical to the viability of the Nano project. This implies that around 238 acres from the vendor park, which is more than 80 per cent of the area earmarked for ancillary units. The Tata Motors factory alone covers 645 acres of the complex.

The resistance to the Nano car project is on account of 400 acres of land, which the Trinamool Congress insists was “forcibly” taken away from farmers. It is asking for the land to be returned to the farmers immediately. The state government, meanwhile, has announced an alternative rehabilitation package for farmers. It is also talking to various stakeholders.
